Fairytale Day at Flagship Centre Bangor is Saturday 28th February 2009!
Celebrate national Tell a Fairy Tale Day with us on Saturday 28th February 2009
Did you know that Thursday 26th February is officially Tell a Fairytale Day? It's a day to get out that favourite fairy story and share it with anyone who fancies a good old tale!
But what is a fairy tale? The fairy tale is a legend or story handed down through generations, usually by oral retelling and it does not have to be a story about fairies. They often explain something that happens in nature or to express the truth about life, such as a lesson to be learned.
Most fairy tales include a beginning, which starts with "Once upon a time" (but not always necessary), enchantment, some form of royalty, a wicked character, a kind character, a goodness rewarded in the end, and an ending of "they lived happily ever after."
To celebrate Tell a Fairytale Day the Flagship Centre, Bangor, has organised a storyteller, along with magical friends, to read stories to young and old between 11-3pm on Saturday 28th February.
Anthony Young, the Flagship Centre's resident storyteller, said
"Everyone loves a good old fairy tale and there is no better excuse than Tell a Fairytale Day to revisit an old favourite. Ther's nothing better than looking down at a child's face when they hear a fairy tale for the first time - to see the intense interest in whta happens to the chararcters and to hear them shout out is a real treat. I am really looking forward to the Flagship Centre's celebration on Saturday 28th February- everyone is welcome."
